Well...that didn't go as planned.

I had big hopes and dreams for my new blog that I had set up before the 2011-2012 school year began.  However, once school started and the chaos of the new year set in, my hopes and dreams were lost amongst all the papers to grade and lessons to plan.  My husband and I also became parents in March to our sweet little boy so that has taken priority over everything else, as you can imagine.  

I'm taking the 2012-2013 school year off from teaching, and I am taking on a part-time instructional assistant job at a school nearby; therefore, I won't have much to post as far as lessons I've planned or projects my students have completed.  I would like to continue (well, actually, begin) blogging though.  I am thinking about what I want to focus on...maybe ideas I want to use when I get back into the classroom...maybe projects I complete around the house.  We'll see.  Any suggestions??

After about 3 days of work in the classroom, everything is now set up for the start of school!  That is, if it ever gets here!  We were supposed to start on Monday, August 15th, but weekend storms caused power outages, blocked roads, etc., so it was pushed back a day.  Well, today is Tuesday, August 16th, and school was canceled again because all of the schools weren't up and ready to go yet.  I'm not complaining; it gave me two extra days of summer and planning, and I'm sure the kids enjoyed it, too!

The school district has officially set the first day of school for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 17th.  Finally!  I'm actually ready to get back into "school mode" after meeting some of the kids at the Parent Institute last Friday!  I'm planned and ready to go; let's just hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow.  I hope to post tomorrow about how our first day went so be sure to check back in Wednesday evening!

First post!

Welcome to our blog!  This will be used to communicate to students, parents, and other teachers about what we, in Room 202, are doing in our classroom throughout the year.  I hope to use this as a way to document our school year, as well as actually teach the students how to integrate the use of blogs and technology in their own learning.  I will primarily be the one posting, but I would like to teach my students how to write their own posts and comments on the blog (under my supervision, of course!).  I hope to post lots of pictures and videos with the students' help.  This will definitely be a learning process for all of us since this will be my first time using a blog in my classroom.  Thanks for visiting, and be sure to check back often!
